At 45K miles, my 99 SLT started making an awful grinding noise- usually in a parking lot but not every time I drove it- I took off the serpentine belt & realized the noise came from not one but two sources- bearings in both my PS pump and AC compressor had gone bad- the biggest noise maker being the AC bearing.

My first thought was that it was a rock stuck up behind the heat sheild. I thoroughly checked though, and found nothing. Once i removed my wheels i saw that my rear pads had little life left, when i removed them i saw that the wear indicating metal tab was in fact rubbing on the rotor so i replaced the rear pads.

All getting g a light rubbing or grinding sound from my driver front tire area. Had the tires checked and all is well. Took it to Firestone and they said most likely it is the wheel hub bearings are going. Said it would be around 600 to fix. Anyone have this prob? Around 120k miles running 35s on 18s. Noise starts at exactly 25 mom and louder up to around 35 40 then road noise takes over.

Grinding Noise in sync with wheel speed. My 05 ML-500 started to make a light grinding once in a while. I now have 140,000 miles on the ML and thought maybe I'm close to doing a Brake job. It did not appear that the brake pad sounders were contacting the rotor . Never the less, with 92,000 miles on the Akebono Pads & Zimmermann Rotors.
