Belt & disc grinders work based on high RPM. Just be careful your not already running a slow rpm or it will stall easily. I have a Baldor motor, I believe a 3/4 hp and it's only a 1725 rpm motor. A Bur King 2" belt sander has a 3650 rpm motor on it, so I'm slow already, then putting a wider then recommended belt on it may make it way to slow. FYI.

I can't lay out $1500 for a belt grinder, but I have been interested in the multitool since it's a lot more affordable. I also wouldn't expect it to perform like the heavier duty grinders, but it might be pretty handy to dress up edges of flats and tubes after being cut in the chop saw.
