In the early 1950s, Pepperell, Inc., a northern textile giant which manufactured sheets, towels, and bath mats bought Dunson Mills in LaGrange. Then in 1965, Pepperell merged with the West Point Manufacturing Company creating West Point-Pepperell. A merger in 1993 made it WestPoint Stevens. In 1968, Callaway Mills sold its operations to Milliken.
