We pour a 55 lb bag into the hopper and mill back into the bag. It's very fast and produces a great grist. 1. The hopper is a little small for a 55 lb bag. I told the manufacturer that it needs to be larger. We remove 10 lbs then pour the rest into the hopper, start the mill and then add the rest of the grain.

Here is the Jimboney Malt Mill we purchased, the hopper holds a full 55lb sack of grain, and the mill is portable. So far we are really happy with it. A little action video of some roasted malt and hickory smoked malt feeding into the mill. Keith stiring the mash. We didn't waste an inch of Mash Tun space on this one.

When I was using a cordless drill it was the 18v hammer drill. Had zero issues powering the grain mill. Now I simply have a motor (geared head) directly connected to the mill (coupler to connect the shafts). I know there are people mounting corded drills to power their mills.

I have considered Jimboney's mill with a cabinet and realizing that milling and mashing in will take more time and labor than if we were to use an auger and hydrator, but as space is at a premium, a malt mill on a rollable cabinet seems appealing.

I hadn't really thought of that until it was mentioned in this thread. I actually do use a Jimboney malt mill and I have not changed the mill gap at all. He told me the "factory" setting was good, so I thought I was fine. But looking at the crush, it obviously needs to be adjusted. It's a 3-roller mill, and he said I could adjust the bottom roller.

Crushing your grain in 10-15 minutes sure beats my old homebrew mill which took 30-45 minutes to do the job. I am crushing 55lb bags in right at 2 minutes so their claim of 25-30 lbs per minute (~1500-1800 lb per hour) is spot on.
