Also only use a CNC mill or Bridgeport type mill to do the work. If you get your spindle centered and parallel to your valve guide hole, the mill will do a much better job than the loose setup of a valve guide machine. A valve guide machine is nothing more than a bench top drill press bolted to a heavy table and a fixture.

There is at least 6-8 well known guys here on YB using my fixture in a vertical mill, not all use them for valve jobs but for many other things too. As for the time factor- quality is the primary concern, and not having to fight the finish or use stones to complete the job.

The bottom set looks a bit like the 'old' LISLE brand valve seat cutters. I've heard multiple people reporting succes with those. Yes, I know machineshops exist who can do it, finding one around here is a tad harder. They also charge 7-20 dollar PER cut. SO a 3 angle valve job on 16 valves is 330 - 960$....

I use a vertical mill to do my valve jobs, not sure about Bryce. Jake how big is your pinch? Is it welded? This head has a 2.54 in² pinch. There is no way the seat ring will be the minumin. The speed at the ST is perfect. No way your achieving a taper with a stock located pinch and flowing any decent amount of air!

If you can find someone with a big enough vertical mill, it can be milled with a flycutter. You'll have to strip the engine down to bare block to do it, though. In the past, I've used a really big file that will cover the whole deck of the engine. By carefully filing absolutely flat across the deck in a random manor, minor humps can be flattened.
