ادامه مطلبMotor drives and speed controls connect to the power supply and adjust the electrical current to regulate the speed. They give more control over the motor to meet the power needs of the application, which also improves motor performance and reduces energy consumption. These speed controls, soft starts, and variable frequency drives (VFDs) are ...
ادامه مطلب1. A smaller diameter grinding wheel will lower the surface speed of the outer diameter of the wheel. You get the same effect as if you slowed down a larger wheel. 2. Mount a pulley on one end of the grinder and drive it with a belt from a variable speed motor. 3. Cut a …
ادامه مطلبBTW, I still don't have variable speed, but I sure wish I did. But I'm glad I at least have a "slower" motor (1750 rpm as opposed to ~3600 rpm) with 3 step pullies, that way I can slow down the grinder down to a "relatively slow speed" compared to single speed direct drive grinders.
ادامه مطلبThe speed of a motor is important but can be compensated for by using the VFD to increase the motor speed or by using a larger diameter drive wheel to make up for lack of speed. Pulley, shaft and belt arrangements can also be used to compensate for motor speed. However, not all grinder designs will accept these extra moving parts.

ادامه مطلبFrom what I've read (and my own experience), I definitely wish this grinder to have a variable speed motor. I also know from experience that I want a motor rated around 1.5 to 2 hp (roughly 1 to 1.5 kW) and my preference would be the 2 hp motor. This desire partly comes from numerous posts on the web concerning knife grinders, for which this ...

ادامه مطلبThe WEN 4280 Variable Speed Bench Grinder is the best variable speed bench grinder on the market by far. It produces 5 amps of power and can go anywhere between 2,000 to 3,400 revolutions per minute (RPM). The slower speeds allow you to have complete control and precision, while the higher speeds allow you to remove material very quickly.
ادامه مطلبThat is a DC open frame motor ( probably from a treadmill). It is a very poor choice for a grinder motor. Both the HP and the speed ratings are misleading. The HP on those things is "Rated HP", similar to 3HP routers and 5HP vacuums. The plate says it would "develop" 2HP with the motor running at 6100RPM and at 130VDC.
ادامه مطلبThe Low Speed Grinder. Low speed or high RPM grinders are usually lower cost grinders in the $200 or less range. They have lower RPMs for a couple of reasons. Usually they have smaller motors, and use gear reduction to step down to the smaller RPM. They also usually have smaller burrs, and most are conical shaped.

ادامه مطلبFor example, if you have a 2 x 72 belt grinder with an 1800 RPM motor with a 4" drive wheel, the formula would look like this: (1800 x .262) x 4" = 1886 Optimal belt speed can vary slightly depending on the type of abrasive grain and grit grade you're using, but in general, this formula should get your operations near the ideal range for ...
ادامه مطلبThe unload speed is for when you have no load... ¿Comprende? Not to discourage you, but an angle grinder motor is the wrong motor for this application. ادامه مطلبJan 19, 2018. #1. I am in the process of building a 2x72 belt grinder. All welded construction, using many components available online. Main question is motor speed. ادامه مطلبA pro-grade belt grinder generally uses a 1750 RPM motor with 0 - speed controller. Meaning most of work is done at much slower speeds. However, the real metric we are concerned with is the linear speed of the belt - usually measured in surface feet per minute (SFM).

ادامه مطلبRe: Grinder speed control I think it can be done but you need a speed controller designed specifically for induction motors. It would likely be cheaper to buy a new grinder. Also, it's not good for the motor and could over heat it. There are speed controllers for ceiling fans which have induction motors but it's a different type of wiring then a grinder motor and it's built for that propose.
ادامه مطلبCons: A bit wanting for power. Motor is slightly out of balance. It can be hard to turn off the grinder, easily, because of the switch placement. There are much better, more powerful grinders out there, if that is what you need. This is a cheap, light tool that has a place, somewhere between a dremel and a $100.00 grinder.
