About the Atlas Horizontal Mill . . . the spindle is threaded 1x10 with an MT2 taper -- the same as later model Atlas/Craftsman 6" lathes. So chucks, faceplates, boring heads and milling cutter holders are readily available on eBay and from various vendors of new items. Clausing still sells many parts for the old Atlas/Craftsman machines.

In order to machine the base casting for the project, I decided to make some angle plate fixtures to bolt down to my Atlas Horizontal Milling Machine. The base casting needs to be flipped several times and spun due to the limited travel 6" x 9" on my Atlas. Here is the mockup renderings I made in Fusion 360 to plan my angle plate design:

I measured the 7/8 arbor that came with the Atlas Milling machine, and made it the same except the diameter. A purchased Morse taper was used, the short taper end was turned straight, the tang cutoff and the small end of the Morse taper was drilled and tapped for 3/8 – 16 for the draw bar.

To bust up some of the rust blobs, I had to use a chisel. Yes, the gears are the same as fit the 6 inch Atlas lathe. The machine also has the same 2 morse taper spindle and the same threads that the 6 inch Atlas used, so lots of tooling is interchangeable. The reservoir for the cutting fluid is in the bottom rear of the main column casting.
